FanExpo

This weekend my boyfriend and I will have a table at FanExpo and be selling our prints and buttons. We'll be at booth A188 so make sure you at least come and say hi! Here's some of the things you can expect to see from me.

Some amazing fanarts like this. Showing off all of my artistic skills.

And we can't forget my original prints of pretty ladies.

What!? August!?

What's that? I haven't updated in a while you say?

Here have some Sailor Moon!

See? Now you feel better don't you?

i've been working my butt off getting ready for FanExpo in Toronto at the end of the month and this is just one of the offerings I'll have available at my table. (As a poster) I'll also have single prints of each of the scouts as well so get excited.

Going to spend the next couple of weeks busting out some last minute things and getting my plan of attack ready (I like being over prepared)

I'm also thinking of doing commissions at my table if people seem interested in silly doodles or some hot ladies.

Tenzin Fanarts!

So here's some Tenzin!

This is one of many things I'm planning on selling at Fanexpo, which takes place in Toronto at the end of August this year. If you're going make sure to come over to booth A188 and say hellos!

Also free high fives

Experiments!

First week back after my month long workshop in which I only existed in Photoshop. Now I'm back to painter. I didn't know that there was so much painting hax that could be done in Photoshop!

I was fooling around with a little something i'm currently working on and happened to make a hyper anime RPG version of  my original painting. Happy accidents!

I'm not afraid to admit that I kinda love both versions!

Last week at the Imaginism Workshop!

I'm in my last week now and even though I have a literal tone of stuff to post when I get more of a chance to sort through everything. I'm going to give everyone a little peek at what I'll be painting in real deal acrylics for my lat week here.

I'll be posting the acrylic painting once that's done. I think it'll probably be wicked but it might also be ass. It's a mystery!

Workshop

I'm participating in the Imaginism Workshop this month. It's an in house month long workshop with an amazing teacther Thierry who starts teaching techniques for all stages of drawing from the ground up.

I just finished my first intense week involving all sort of structure. In the downtime between lessons and assignments I've been working on some personal pieces.

Here's a little thing I whiped up after looking at a lot of looking at Chris Sanders artbooks.

Tyrion

Yesterday I realized that Fan Expo is steadily sneaking up on me so I should start getting my butt in gear so that I'm not that loser sitting at a table with only 5 arts to sell.

So here's what I worked on today. Tyrion Lannister, because he's some kind of bad ass. I haven't done a portrait in well over a decade so it was a great challenge. Especially with him having such uniquely amazing features.

I'm also aware I didn't keep to posting every week this month like I said I would... But I have been drawing in my sketchbook loads so that counts right? right?

The finished Pandaren

After a not so solid week and a half of work I present my finished Pandaren arts!

I'm so proud of this girly I might even submit her to the Blizzard fan art section of their site :3

And here's a speed painting video!

...I'll have to learn to use a better program for editing than the one I have.

Panda Progress

I said I would update more often. And I'm kinda keeping my promise?

So here's a progress shot of my Pandaren picture which is totally kicking my ass at the moment. Should be done in a couple more sittings and then I can move onto another (maybe quicker) piece.

Fanart time~!

So, unless you know absolutely nothing about me, you know I've been participating in the lovely hobby known as World of Warcraft since release about 7 or 8 years ago. So you might be able to imagine my excitement at the beta for the newest expansion being opened last week.

I don't remember being this excited for an expansion ever. New race: Pandaren! New class: MONKS! entirely asian themed expansion. I am so excited!

Therefore fan art! I'll be posting a finished version of this later on in the week. For now you just get a sketch.

I'm also going to take this opportunity to publicly announce my resolution to draw a whole heck of a lot in April. At least 3 pieces a week! So look forward to it my very small and limited audience!

Softness

Oh hey there skillz. Where have you been hiding?

This one started out as just a warm up to trying and figure out my tablet settings and make it so that I can actually work with the amazing tablet the boyfriend is letting me steal. And then I got carried away.

What a difference between today and yesterday. So nice to draw something I'm happy with for once

I live?

I just spent the past month coming down with a sudden case of a social life and then catching an suffering from the plague. (thanks Jacob!) That'll teach me for socializing.

As an apology for my lack of updates please accept this offering of crappily coloured drawing of pretty ladies.

pushing through a slump with cell-shading is never the answer kids.

I think I have a problem

I've been working really hard on some artwork i'm actually getting paid for (what!?) So tonight I took a break to do something personal. Yes I could have worked on the mermaid but i'm rebelling and rocking my comic book style! So there!
Have I mentioned that I'm on this bunny kick?

Mermaid Progress

Worked on the mermaid a bit more today since the bf was visiting but working.

Got the colours down and quite a bit of the textures. To be honest it COULD be done right now. I'm pretty happy with how it looks. But knowing me, It's not.

Processssinggggggg

The other day my friend asked for me to draw her a mermaid because she really wants to get one tattooed so that is exactly what I'm doing. Here's a little work in progress image of it.

Make sure you click for the larger version. I'm the lightest sketcher ever and there are many details!

Skype dates with the boyfriend are pretty much the only time I get any real drawing done. There is still a ton of sketching and tweaking to do but I'm just happy I managed to finish her tonight.

Omg bunnies!

I just finished a drawing date over Skype with my boyfriend. He hasn't finished but who cares about him right?

Continuing on with wanting to challenge myself with things I'm not comfortable or familiar with I think i'm going to try my hand at drawing animals this week. "But Sarah" you say "It doesn't look like you're bad at animals." To you I say shhhhhh. Animals ARE hard for me. But I'm quite happy with how I progressed from the first one to the last.

And in related news. My boyfriend actually hooked me up with Painter 12 when I went to visit him last weekend. I'm still in the process of decoding the billions of brushes but I've pretty much found everything I need except a good outline brush. I'll probably have to create one but as you can see, my sketch brush is located and we have been getting to know each other quite well.

I also think it's fun to show what my sketches look like. Mind you these are a bit more detailed than I would usually do for a full colour drawing.

Train arts

I just got back from a week at my mom's and then 4 days in Toronto at the BF's. I did a lot of drawing including going out subway sketching with some of the loveliest people. Unfortunately I pretty much exclusively drew in my sketchbook, which means that everything is too light to show off because i use the hardest pencils in existence and everything that is drawn with them is invisible to the human eye.

But i did end up doodling and then colouring something on the train back to the winter wonderland that is Ottawa

iphone photo ftw! Scanners are for suckers! and you can see the faint face of a random stranger from my subway sketching escapades

From the land of no internet

I'm at my mom's dog sitting in the place i raised: Middle of no where canada. Perfect opportunity to doodle up some doodles

Messing around with different styles. Still pretty rusty

challenge!

Over the weekend my boyfriend was visiting me. He always likes to tell me how to do things even though he knows I work with a very limited program compared to his glorious CS5. So a challenge was issued: While he was visiting me we would draw something on the other's machine using the other's tablet and programs. I'll spare you his long winded complaints but needless to say he lost :p

Here's what i busted out on CS5

Not too shabby for just playing around with his brushes and what not.

What dreams are made of

Keeping with my wanting to improve on things I suck at today I forced myself to punch out a background. I have to admit that I'm pretty proud of it. It's the first time that I can remember ever trying something like this. There's still a lot of room for improvement but I'm happy with my first attempt.

Yes, that is me and my dog on an epic adventure! This is what I imagine he dreams about. Expect that he probably doesn't know what mountains are and is the biggest chicken on four legs. But he's brave when i'm around.

I also realized today that I have the crappiest program ever that I somehow manage to find a way to draw in. The only brush is the digital airbrush and you can't adjust layers worth crap. Yay for the program that came with my cheap tablet. So pro

The rust!

I haven't done anything with digital drawing in many months so I'm trying to force the rust off my skills.

I also want to get better at animals. Which automatically equals me doodling a picture of my beloved Beckham. This angle cuts down on his old-man face which i think he appreciates

FIRST!

Aww yeah! Finally gone and made myself a blog for all my arts!

Let's kick this thing of proper with a drawing that has never seen the blinding light of the internet shall we?

Huzzah! I'll be adding new drawings of various and sometimes questionable quality ever couple days. Look forward to it!
