Softness

Oh hey there skillz. Where have you been hiding?

This one started out as just a warm up to trying and figure out my tablet settings and make it so that I can actually work with the amazing tablet the boyfriend is letting me steal. And then I got carried away.

What a difference between today and yesterday. So nice to draw something I'm happy with for once

I live?

I just spent the past month coming down with a sudden case of a social life and then catching an suffering from the plague. (thanks Jacob!) That'll teach me for socializing.

As an apology for my lack of updates please accept this offering of crappily coloured drawing of pretty ladies.

pushing through a slump with cell-shading is never the answer kids.

I think I have a problem

I've been working really hard on some artwork i'm actually getting paid for (what!?) So tonight I took a break to do something personal. Yes I could have worked on the mermaid but i'm rebelling and rocking my comic book style! So there!
Have I mentioned that I'm on this bunny kick?

Mermaid Progress

Worked on the mermaid a bit more today since the bf was visiting but working.

Got the colours down and quite a bit of the textures. To be honest it COULD be done right now. I'm pretty happy with how it looks. But knowing me, It's not.

Processssinggggggg

The other day my friend asked for me to draw her a mermaid because she really wants to get one tattooed so that is exactly what I'm doing. Here's a little work in progress image of it.

Make sure you click for the larger version. I'm the lightest sketcher ever and there are many details!

Skype dates with the boyfriend are pretty much the only time I get any real drawing done. There is still a ton of sketching and tweaking to do but I'm just happy I managed to finish her tonight.

Omg bunnies!

I just finished a drawing date over Skype with my boyfriend. He hasn't finished but who cares about him right?

Continuing on with wanting to challenge myself with things I'm not comfortable or familiar with I think i'm going to try my hand at drawing animals this week. "But Sarah" you say "It doesn't look like you're bad at animals." To you I say shhhhhh. Animals ARE hard for me. But I'm quite happy with how I progressed from the first one to the last.

And in related news. My boyfriend actually hooked me up with Painter 12 when I went to visit him last weekend. I'm still in the process of decoding the billions of brushes but I've pretty much found everything I need except a good outline brush. I'll probably have to create one but as you can see, my sketch brush is located and we have been getting to know each other quite well.

I also think it's fun to show what my sketches look like. Mind you these are a bit more detailed than I would usually do for a full colour drawing.

Train arts

I just got back from a week at my mom's and then 4 days in Toronto at the BF's. I did a lot of drawing including going out subway sketching with some of the loveliest people. Unfortunately I pretty much exclusively drew in my sketchbook, which means that everything is too light to show off because i use the hardest pencils in existence and everything that is drawn with them is invisible to the human eye.

But i did end up doodling and then colouring something on the train back to the winter wonderland that is Ottawa

iphone photo ftw! Scanners are for suckers! and you can see the faint face of a random stranger from my subway sketching escapades
